5G opens a new era
“Looking back at history, social changes are always weighed in technological advancement. 2G has opened the world of global conversation. 3G and 4G have allowed humanity to enter the era of mobile internet. 5G will open a new era, a sense of everything, interconnected things, Intelligent World of Everything.” At the 5G Summit of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in 2018, Ding Wei, President of Huawei's Managing Director and operator BG, delivered a speech and shared his vision and viewpoints with 5G industries.
When we were still talking about 4G 10 years ago, many people might not have thought that we could do it on the phone a little bit now: buying tickets, booking hotels, booking taxis, making payment transfers... and mobile phones have become a digital world for people. Entrance. Looking into 5G, the future 5G will not only serve people, but also connect everything, everything, everything, the Internet of Things, and the world of things. Countless things that are hard to imagine now will be stimulated: In the future, cars will be unmanned and all vehicles will pass. Network coordinated driving, there is no traffic jam, parking, traffic accident problems; many goods can be transported by drones, home delivery in minutes; blind people can use the auxiliary equipment to sense the outside world, can be as normal as normal travel life ... ...5G will become the entrance to the digital world for everything in the world!
Just as the generation of steam engines has greatly increased the efficiency of the release of the labor force, humans have entered the industrial age. In the future, 5G will also be an enabler for changes in the rules of the game for many industries. Various industries should invest in the 5G field sooner so as to take the lead in the digital transformation of the industry in the future. For operators, 5G will be a major opportunity. The expansion of the digital map means the expansion of opportunities, and the connection of all things will promote the emergence of the new trillion market.
5G, advance action
5G deployment will not happen overnight. 5G will be a transformation of the entire network. Many tasks need to be prepared in advance:
a) Site modernization:
At the time of collection, many site space is already very congested. It is difficult to find out where to place new 5G antennas. It is necessary to upgrade to new full-spectrum multiple-transmission and multi-receiving antennas to prepare for antenna deployment for 5G deployment.
The cloudization of airspace and the clouding of airspace enable the 2G/3G/4G/5G spectrum to be shared dynamically to facilitate future migration of spectrum to 5G.
Indoor digitalization, it is difficult for DAS systems to support 5G, and it is necessary to replace the digitized system so as to smoothly support 5G in the future.
2. Bearer broadband: The bearer network deployment cycle is longer than the access side cycle. 5G bearers must be deployed first, 10G to station, 50G to ring, and 200-400G end-to-end backbone network.
C) Operational Automation: After the advent of 5G, a more complex environment will be faced. If the current operating model is still adopted, OPEX will not be able to continue, and operations must be automated and intelligent to effectively respond to the needs of their respective users in the future.
IV) Architecture Cloudization: The cloud-based network architecture centered on the data center is the foundation for automation and intelligence of future network operations, and it can provide powerful computational power for the network and users. The cloudized architecture will promote closer cooperation between the cloud and the network, will better digitize the service industry, and provide enterprises with a one-stop cloud service.
5G, with Huawei
The 5G era is full of uncertainties. Operators need a reliable strategic partner. 5G and Huawei's peers mean:
With Huawei's six largest global 5G industry alliances and 270+ 5G partners, Huawei has started cooperation with multiple vertical industry partners early on to expand the application of 5G in the vertical industry and build the most extensive 5G industry cooperation. In September 2016, we promoted the establishment of the “5G Automobile Alliance” (5GAA) for 5G car networking and promoted the establishment of the 5G Smart Manufacturing Alliance (5GACIA) in October 2017. Huawei XLabs, together with more than 270 industrial partners around the world, continues to explore 5G applications and publishes 5G top-ten applications. At present, 47 joint projects for 5G applications are in progress.
In line with Huawei's most complete 5G full-line solution: In 2018, Huawei will launch 5G end-to-end commercial systems based on 3GPP, while radio access network products include multiple frequency bands (including Sub3GHz, C-band, millimeter-wave), and more. The base station product portfolio of this form (macro station, micro station) is applicable to different installation scenarios such as pipe towers, roof poles, and pole stations. Among the most anticipated are the world's smallest 3D-MIMO products and the industry's most powerful new BBU platform.
With Huawei's R&D investment of 100 to 20 billion U.S. dollars per year, Huawei's R&D investment in 2017 is expected to exceed 12 billion U.S. dollars, ranking sixth in the world. In the future, Huawei will continue to maintain high investment of 100 to 20 billion U.S. dollars per year in R&D. At present, Huawei has more than 5,000 R&D personnel engaged in 5G product development. It plans to invest 5 billion yuan in R&D in 5G in 2018.
With Huawei's global top 300+5G scientists in the field: “Ten years of grinding a sword”, Huawei deployed the world’s first 4G/LTE commercial network as early as 2009, and began to research 5G non-stop and hired more than 300 people. The world's top wireless scientists have invested in 5G research and have established 5G research centers in more than 10 locations in France, the United States, and Germany.
Huawei will not only help customers build 5G networks, but will also work with global industry partners to help customers achieve 5G commercial success and explore 5G innovation. Huawei will build 5G capabilities in all aspects from technology, ecology, applications, AI, cloud, professional services, and consulting to help customers build better 5G. Join hands to enter a new era of interconnection!
