Testing for the US Department of Transportation's WAVE-DSRC Standard Will Enable Commercial Markets to Gain Best-in-Class V2X Technology
Spirent Communications and Cohda Wireless announced that they have expanded their existing partnerships to provide broader support for the testing of WAVE-DSRC V2X devices.
Based on the long-term successful cooperation in the European V2X standard ITS-G5, Cohda Wireless and Spirent Communications will provide tests for the US Department of Transportation's WAVE-DSRC standard, which implements the correlation between IEEE1609.x and SAE J2945/1. content.
Spirent and Cohda Wireless jointly participated in the OmniAir Motor City Plugfest, providing WAVE-DSRC V2X compliance testing at five of the test stations, enabling V2X vendors to prepare for OmniAir certification and continue to improve product quality. At the conference, Spirent focused on the functional and performance requirements defined by the SAE J2945/1 and IEEE 1609.2 standards, covering various security and mobility features, and they are just some of the technologies. Potential sources of interoperability and security issues.
Bernd Lübben, Cohda’s vice president of business development, pointed out: “Spirent's test solutions helped us verify the consistency of the MK5 device under the WAVE-DSRC standard during preparation for OmniAir certification. Spirent's WAVE- The DSRC V2X compliance testing solution is a very intuitive tool that supports high-level automation, combining usability and performance to fully meet our project test objectives.” Mr Lübben also stated: “Cohda is very excited to partner with Spirent. We have worked hard to achieve the overall consistency of the V2X stack, and we have worked closely together to explore various test cases. We have provided Cohda with a number of earlier versions that are invaluable for improving our software performance."
Stephan Pietsch, Director of Spirent Communications Networking R&D, said: “We are honored to support Cohda's MK5 V2X device conformance testing project, which is the successful completion of the OmniAir certification program. Follow-up support is provided as a deployment of V2X technology. As an important part of our team, we will be fully committed to continuing to expand such cooperation."
The V2X is the basis for the proliferation of multiple applications. These applications will provide drivers and in-vehicle embedded systems with various warnings concerning road construction, lane closures, traffic signal timing, and even potential collision risks, which will significantly increase the number of roads. safety. The V2X technology will make a significant contribution to the optimization of safe transportation, ultimately achieving full autonomous vehicle travel, enabling these vehicles using cooperative intelligent transportation systems (C-ITS) to operate safely on the road.
The interoperability between vehicle manufacturers' communication equipment and related software from different manufacturers is the key to the success of V2X technology. To ensure this interoperability, the OmniAir Consortium has developed a rigorous networked vehicle certification program to verify compliance with existing standards and regulations. The US Department of Transportation (USDOT) has mandated that manufacturers' equipment must pass the certification of the OmniAir Consortium before they can participate in the trial deployment in the United States.
As a global leader in connected automotive and automotive Ethernet test solutions, Spirent Communications recently released a new version of the TTsuite WAVE-DSRC test solution, and has obtained OmniAir credentials to participate in the world's first V2X standard and Regulatory compliance plan for certification.
Cohda Wireless is a key solution provider in the field of V2X equipment, and its MK5 equipment supports the ITS-G5 and WAVE-DSRC standards. The partnership between test leaders and V2X stacks and application leaders will enable the commercial market to acquire best-in-class V2X technology. In addition, Cohda is developing a test interface for its customers that can significantly speed up test automation in the device certification process.
