Nutanix places a heavy burden on this new product. The goal is to allow the application workload to move freely between public and private cloud environments while maintaining a unified security management policy.
Netsil, the container that provides cloud application monitoring services, was acquired by Nutanix, and recently Nutanix was at home. At the NEXT conference, Nutanix Flow, a software-defined networking solution, was introduced and can also be used in a cross-cloud environment. Nutanix said that Nutanix Flow is application-centric, and that it can protect applications and resist external and internal security threats compared to Perimeter-Oriented security products. The product is also integrated with Acropolis, its home operating system, making real-time application monitoring more feasible.
It is worth noting that the services provided by this product overlap with VMware NSX to a certain degree, such as providing application protection, or allowing users to set unified network policies, deploy to virtualization platforms, and accelerate network management.
Nutanix said that in today's enterprise IT is gradually moving to cloud AP architecture, many applications are based on separate, not closely connected services. Nutanix Flow provides a unified management policy to manage the communication between these applications. At the same time, Netsil's technologies, such as real-time streaming and application profiling, are used to simplify AP security in public and private cloud environments. Policy management.
Nutanix Flow now has four major features integrated with the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud OS. The first is the network visualization function. Application administrators can immediately observe the performance of network infrastructure operations and the availability of system services. The second is the Application-Centric Microsegmentation of the Application Center, which allows you to instantly grasp the network connections, workloads, and data between each application, allowing the granularity of application management to be more granular.
The second is the unified integration of other partner manufacturers' solutions. Nutanix said that as long as it is a third-party vendor's product of the Nutanix ecosystem, it can also integrate into the same network environment and plan a unified network management policy. The fourth feature is the automation of network operations to reduce the routine work of network administrators. For example, VLAN configuration settings and load balancing tool modifications can be automated.
Nutanix said that the new target is to allow application workloads to move freely between public and private cloud environments, while maintaining a unified security management policy. “If you just need one click, you can move a cloudy environment.”
This time, Nutanix released Nutanix Flow, an SDN solution that companies can rely on to observe the execution status of applications in VMs, or to create topology diagrams between applications. The system will also automatically plan new network security. Policy, the user can complete the setting with just one click. Nutanix said that these new features will be released in the second half of 2018.
