NTT Group and Dell Technology Group to Launch Smart City Plan

The NTT Group (affiliates NTT, NTT DATA, NTT Communications, and Dimension Data) have deepened their relationship with Dell Technologies to include Smart City plans. As part of the digital transformation of the Las Vegas City, the two companies will cooperate with the city in the first smart city proof of concept.
NTT Group believes that smart cities are the natural evolution of public safety. It will make full use of next-generation sensors, ultra-high definition cameras and other forward-looking technologies. At present, video situational awareness is a common practice used by local police and fire agencies to proactively remind public safety stakeholders and emergency first aid personnel. However, if you want to expand the scope of future security measures, you need to be able to analyze and store the input multimedia data infrastructure and operating mode. These requirements are too expensive for most cities and will limit the public safety potential of smart city plans.
The NTT Group's new solution is a secure, distributed platform that will create and deploy miniature data centers near sensors located throughout the city. These micro data centers will use advanced analysis techniques to deliver real-time data to where data can make the most of its value. Edge-based prediction and diagnostic analysis will only send data that indicates that an event has occurred or needs to be investigated back to the core data center, thereby minimizing the amount of data transferred and shortening the transfer time.
This smart city solution is based on the NTT Group's innovative Cognitive Foundation architecture, which enables the remote creation, management and operation of information and communication technology (ICT) resources from devices and networks to the cloud. In addition, it will incorporate the Dell EMC Hyperconverged Infrastructure and Internet of Things (IoT) Gateway, as well as the VMware vCloud NFV platform that hosts predictive analytics applications.
Once the proof of concept is completed, it will be able to use active data analysis to improve security. With a powerful, scalable infrastructure that supports video situational awareness and sensor data, the Las Vegas City can use machine learning to reduce the response time of public security incidents. After the successful proof of concept in Las Vegas City, NTT Group plans to launch other similar programs in other US cities.
NTT Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer of NTT Security Jun Sawada said: “Our cooperation is unique and we are very pleased to work with Las Vegas and Dell Technology Group to help ensure the safety of the people and deploy them when needed. Key resources." Sawada said: "We have integrated the NTT Group's Cognitive Foundation with the Dell Micro Technology Group's powerful microdata center, focusing on public gathering areas and event venues. This powerful combination will further bring effective and efficient Quick response service."
Michael Lee Sherwood, director of information technology at the Las Vegas city, said: “The innovation zone in downtown Las Vegas will become a testbed for new technologies, and the latest solutions created by NTT Group and Dell Technology Group will help us further work. , and then create a smart connected community. By using innovative technologies, the Las Vegas City will be able to enhance service delivery while helping to ensure public safety and networking."
According to Howard Elias, president of Dell Services, Digital and IT, "The proof-of-concept testing conducted in cooperation with NTT Group focused on improving, modernizing and upgrading our urban infrastructure. We attach great importance to this cooperation project with the NTT Group. A plan to cover the city and have advanced technology is being launched, and we look forward to helping cities around the world to make better use of their resources.”
NTT Group is pleased to introduce this advanced smart city solution in the digital society era at Dell Technologies World 2018.
